Patriots to interview Rams' Zac Robinson for vacant OC job (report)
The New England Patriots are set to interview Rams pass game coordinator/quarterback coach Zac Robinson for their vacant offensive coordinator job on Tuesday.
This was first report by Albert Breer of MMQB.
The 37-year old has also drawn interest from the Chicago Bears and the New Orleans saints for the same role.
The Rams last season ranked 7th in the league on passing yards per attempt. Before being promoted to QB coach, he also held the positions of assistant QB coach and assistant wide receiver coach.
Robinson has been paired with head coach Sean McVay ever since joining Los Angeles in 2019.
Patriots do have a tie to the young coordinator as they drafted Robinson in 2010 with he 250th overall pick. He ultimately was released in September of that year.
Under Robinson, quarterback Matthew Stafford has shined. In 2021, he won the Super Bowl and threw for 4,866 yards and tied a career high with 41 touchdowns. This past season Stafford was sixth in the league with a 63.6 quarterback rating.
Another area that the Rams have been great with is drafting and developing wide receivers. The latest example is fifth rounder Puka Nacua, who set the NFL rookie record in receptions and yards with 105 catches for 1,486 yards.
This interview marks the second Rams assistant that Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo will speak to next week. With the success of the Rams offense, Robinson is an extremely intriguing candidate.
