Twins general manager to interview for Red Sox front office opening
The Red Sox search for a new general manager is starting to heat up. The club is set to interview current Twins GM Thad Levine, per the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
On Monday, Levine’s name emerged, according to WEEI’s Rob Bradford, citing he and the Sox have “elicited mutual interest.”
“Industry sources have identified Levine as someone who is well-versed in utilizing information, but wouldn't be afraid to step outside the analytical models in order to execute targeted acquisitions,” reported Bradford.
The 51-year-old has been with the Twins serving under president of baseball ops Derek Falvey since 2016.
Levine is the first external name that has emerged as a potential serious candidate to replace Chaim Bloom.
The Twins executive was a finalist for the vacant Phillies front office job back in 2020. Philadelphia went on to hire Dave Dombrowski to lead their baseball operations.
"He's an intriguing guy because he was a guy that actually was in line to become the next Philadelphia Phillies boss," Bradford said on his Baseball Isn’t Boring podcast. "Thad decided that.. he was going to prioritize his family and not uproot his family and not go down that road."
