AL Central general manager has shown interest in the Red Sox vacant front office job
The search for Chaim Bloom’s replacement rolls on for the Red Sox. Over the last few days, there’s been reports of candidates who are not interested in running the team.
On Monday, a new name has emerged, according to WEEI’s Rob Bradford, Twins general manager Thad Levine and the Sox have “elicited mutual interest.”
The 51-year-old currently works under Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey since 2016. He previously served as the assistant general manager with the Rangers.
“Industry sources have identified Levine as someone who is well-versed in utilizing information, but wouldn't be afraid to step outside the analytical models in order to execute targeted acquisitions,” reported Bradford.
Levine had interviewed for the Phillies general manager role back in 2020. Philadelphia hired Dave Dombrowski to lead their front office.
Most recently, former Rangers president of baseball ops Jon Daniels and former Marlins president Michael Hill have decided opportunities to interview with the Red Sox.
Another name to watch is former Marlins general manager Kim Ng. She declined the mural option with Miami and is no longer with their organization.
