Jack Studnicka’s time with the Boston Bruins has come to an end.
Boston traded Studnicka to the Canucks on Thursday for goaltender Michael DiPietro and defenseman Jonathan Myrenberg, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced Thursday.
The 23-year-old was selected by the Bruins in the second round (53rd overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. In 38 games for Boston, he tallied one goal and six assists for seven points.
Studnicka has struggled to find a role with the Bruins. He made his season debut last Thursday and struggled.

Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery said that Studnicka didn’t have his “best game.”
Montgomery offered a message to the young forward following the game, “I just told him to keep his head up, it’s a long season and I have no worries about where Jack is how he’s gonna help us,” said Montgomery.
“It’s a hard game, but it’s part of being a pro, right? It’s like life. There’s ups and downs and how you handle adversity and grow from it is a true mettle of your character.”
The Bruins will receive former third round pick in DiPietro. He’s spent he’s entire career in the AHL with the exception of three games he played in the NHL.
During the 2021-22 season, the Canadian-born goalie played in 34 AHL games with the Abbotsford Canucks. He compiling a 15-13-4 record with a 2.95 goals against average and .901 save percentage.

It’s expected DiPietro will be assigned to the Providence Bruins.

The young blue liner was originally selected by Vancouver in the fifth round of the 2021 NHL Draft. He’s expected to remain overseas for the time being.
