Watch: Roman Anthony homers twice for the Portland Sea Dogs during day/night double header
Red Sox top outfield prospect Roman Anthony had a big Saturday at the plate for the Portland Sea Dogs. Anthony went 3-for-7 with two homers, one in each of the doubleheader games, a stolen base, and a walk.
His power surge early on this season has pushed his OPS to 1.093 and through six games to begin the Sea Dogs season, he’s hitting .333 with eight hits, six runs, two home runs, four RBIs, and two stolen bases while posting a .385 OBP.
Anthony is part of the Red Sox “Big Three” with Marcelo Mayer and Kyle Teel. The Portland Sea Dogs are currently ranked second by Baseball America as one of the 10 most talented minor league teams to start the 2024 season.

"Just being aggressive early in that leadoff spot," Anthony said to the Portland Sea Dogs’ Ben Weinrib. "I just stuck to my approach that I've always had -- using all fields and just trying to do damage right there on a pitch up. Regardless of what pitch it is -- fastball, offspeed -- the goal remains the same for me. Just trying to get my swing off early, regardless of what level. As you go up, the pitchers just get better and get more around the zone. I feel like I benefit from it and just getting a pitch up early and getting my swing off, good things will happen."
