On this episode, Fantasy Baseball writer and podcaster Eric Cross joins the show and talks about the upcoming free agent frenzy this offseason. In addition, he talks about fantasy baseball players who were a surprise in 2024, his takeaways from the Arizona Fall League and more.
How much of Eric’s focus is on the majors or minors when he creates his fantasy content?
“I'd say it's probably pretty split,” said Cross. “I watch a lot of, you know, I have a minor league, you know, MLB TV. I watch some minor league games when I can. I'm always kind of combing through video and box scores and digging in the data to see some trends. But I love the minor leagues. I try to keep it as close to a 50-50 split as I can because especially with me covering, you know, I cover like a lot of things, but a lot of my content is dynasty focused.
“So prospects are a big part of that. I try to kind of encapsulate everything. And I've always loved the minor leagues. I grew up, you know, I've always lived within 15 minutes from Portland, Maine, double A for the Red Sox. Even back when they were with the Marlins back in the 90s and early 2000s. So I saw Hamley and Ramirez come through here. I saw Beckett, Pedroia, Lester, you know, Mookie. The list goes on and on. Guys I saw go through there.
“So that kind of at a young age drew me to that. I'm like, Oh, wow. Like I saw that guy.”
