Taylor Broadway "had some life" in his pitches against Northeastern
The Red Sox acquired right-handed pitcher Taylor Broadway as the player to be named later component of the Reese Mcguire-Jake Diekman trade. Broadway came over to the Red Sox system after the trade and only got into five games with Portland. However, Broadway is projected to start the 2023 season in Worcester’s bullpen. On Friday, he showed the some life in his fastball as he blew one by Northeastern’s Jack Thorbahn for the first strikeout of the game for a Red Sox pitcher.
A former teammate of Broadways in the Chicago White Sox’s system is not surprised a bit with Broadway’s stuff showing some life today.
“He’s really good at what he does. He’s also got experience at the SEC level being a closer. He could help this year in the big leagues. Good heater and a really good curveball.”
Being a closer for a team in the SEC is something that can’t be looked down upon. After facing some of the hardest offenses in all of college baseball his season year at Ole Miss, Broadway had 66 strikeouts in only 49 innings pitched which are impressive numbers against lineups that regularly featured guys going towards the MLB draft.
