Bobby Dalbec has been called up to replace Story on the major league roster.
Earlier this season, Story spent time on the injured list with a right hand contusion.
The 29-year-old hasn’t played since Sept. 11th, when he left the game against the Orioles with a left heel injury. This season he has batted .238 with 22 doubles, 16 homers and 66 RBIs. Story has made 92 starts at second base for the Red Sox.
