Obviously, the Red Sox are not going to sign Juan Soto and can best hope to get him out of the AL East (not that it matters so much anymore with the balanced schedule). Outfielders we have. It is pitchers we lack.
I don't think the Sox will sign him either. The clear need is to use their resources on high-end pitching. Everything is lip service until they're aggressive and add premium talent to the organization.
Well there is, IMHO, considerable "premium talent" within the organization. The question is whether some of it needs to be traded away to get the pitching that is so desperately needed. OTOH, every time I hear someone suggest that Teel be traded I start to shake because quality catchers who can hit are hard to find and I suspect Kyle could be one of them.
I should have re-worded that differently, that was my mistake. They have premium talent in the system, I meant from a free agent addition stand point. When Speier mentioned in the Reddit chat that Teel could be moved surprised me.
