Raiders claim former Patriots cornerback Jack Jones, says he’s ‘blessed’ for new opportunity
The Patriots waived Jack Jones on Monday and he quickly found a new home with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Jones will be reunited with Antonio Pierce, who coached him in both high school and college.
Following the Raiders claiming the defensive back off waivers, Jones took to social media to say goodbye to Patriots Nation and express his excitement for his new chance in Las Vegas.
“Thank you Pats Nation and Pats organization I appreciated everything about the experience I had with the Pats. Its love forever .. new chapter .. blessed to be a Raider,” Jones posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Jones didn’t start the last two games for the Patriots and following his actions the last few weeks, the team elected to waive him.
The 25-year-old reportedly missed a Nov. 4 curfew, before the Commanders game, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss. Jones disputes the report from Reiss.
He left Gillette Stadium after New England’s Week 9 loss to the Washington Commanders without speaking to the media.
When asked why Jones was waived by the Patriots, Bill Belichick told reporters that it was “just time to move on.”
New England supported Jones through his gun charges following his arrest on June 16 at Boston’s Logan Airport. Prosecutors dropped the gun charges in September after Jones agreed to serve one year of pre-trial probation and 48 hours of community service on other counts, according to court documents.
Jones was selected in the fourth round of the 2022 draft out of Arizona State and played 13 games (two starts) as a rookie while totaling two interceptions.
