Pete Carroll out as Seahawks head coach
Pete Carroll is officially out as the Seattle Seahawks head coach. The news was first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
This move was unexpected and adds another job opening in the coaching carousel. In his final season, Seattle went 9-8 and missed the playoffs.
Carroll, 72, was the oldest head coach in the NFL. His career highlight was winning the Super Bowl against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos in 2014 with an elite defense. The defense known as the Legion of Boom included corner Richard Sherman, safety Kam Chancellor and linebacker Bobby Wagner.
Over 14 seasons in Seattle, Carroll had a 137-89 record. The change of roles now has the current head coach opening total in the league at seven. Panthers, Commanders, Falcons, Chargers, Raiders, and Titans are the others.
While there is expected to be multiple candidates for Seattle there is one that has already been mentioned. Schefter posted on X that Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn is one person they have expressed interest in.
