Titans fire head coach Mike Vrabel after six seasons
The Tennessee Titans have fired head coach Mike Vrabel, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Titans went 6-11 this year and had back-back losing seasons.
The following statement was made by Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk.
Strunk in a longer statement said “As the NFL continues to innovate and evolve, I believe the teams best positioned for sustained success will be those who empower an aligned and collaborative team across all football functions.”
Overall, the former Patriots linebacker, went to Nashville and finishes with a 54-45 record that included three playoff appearances with one AFC title game. In six seasons on the job, Vrabel won coach of the year in 2022.
Vrabel is sure to be a very popular coaching candidate. Naturally, one spot that will be tied to him is the New England Patriots given his playing days. Of course, Bill Belichick is currently the head coach as this is being written.
When he was inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame last October, Vrabel was very complimentary of the organization and his time here.
“I don't want anybody to [take it lightly] when they go away from here because any time that you're associated with a Hall of Fame with an organization that has the trophies that this one has behind it, I don't think you take it very lightly," Vrabel said at the ceremony. "And again, I just remind everybody, don't take what you have for granted, especially what we had here.”
Given the success Vrabel has had with the Titans if the Patriots are sure to have competition.
