Patriots sign QB Will Grier to the active roster
The Patriots are adding another quarterback to the active roster.
New England has signed former Cowboys’ signal caller Will Grier off the Bengals practice squad, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Grier will occupy Marcus Jones’ 53-man roster spot, the defensive back landed on the IL with a torn labrum. He suffered the injury during the team’s loss to the Dolphins on Sunday.
The former third-round pick out of West Virginia enjoyed a strong preseason. Grier went 29-of-35 for 305 yards and two touchdowns in a win over the Raiders in the preseason finale. He was ultimately waived after the Cowboys acquired Trey Lance from the 49ers.
The 28-year-old is the latest quarterback to sign with New England. The team has already moved on from Matt Corral and Ian Book as practice squad flyers.
