Patriots lose quarterback Will Grier off the practice squad
The Patriots have lost another quarterback off their practice squad. The Chargers will sign Will Grier, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Malik Cunningham was signed by the Ravens last week.
The Grier signing is the first move made by new interim general manager JoJo Wooden. The Chargers fired general manager Tom Telesco and head coach Brandon Staley last week.
The 28-year-old was originally signed by the Patriots off the Bengals’ practice squad in late September. Grier has not yet dressed for the Patriots during his short time with the organization.
The former West Virginia University quarterback will get a chance to play for the Chargers with Justin Herbert out for the season. Los Angeles currently has Easton Stick and Max Duggan on their active roster in his absence.
Grier hasn’t played in an NFL game since 2019. The former third-round pick has completed 28 of his 52 passes for 228 yards with no touchdowns and four interceptions in two starts as a rookie for Carolina.
