Chargers fire head coach Brandon Staley
Los Angeles also let go their general manager following an embarrassing loss on Thursday Night Football.
The Los Angeles Chargers have seen enough, announcing their decision to part ways with general manager Tom Telesco and head coach Brandon Staley.
After getting demolished 63-21 on Thursday Night Football by the Las Vegas Raiders, the Chargers seemed destined for change.
Los Angeles sits at 5-9 despite having a franchise quarterback in Justin Herbert, a number one wide receiver in Keenan Allen and two pro bowl defensive ends in Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack.
Staley has been on the hot seat for awhile. His team was mediocre, going 24-24 under the head coach even though their roster is full of talent.
Telesco has been the general manager for 11 season and has gone through three head coaches during that stretch. The Chargers have had only two playoff wins under Telesco.
Last season, the Chargers blew a 27-0 lead in the wild card round to the Jacksonville Jaguars. At that time, the loss seemed to be the end for at least Staley, but he remained in charge.
The Chargers named outside linebackers coach Giff Smith interim head coach, it’s not known who will take over the football operations for Telesco.
