Patriots expected to interview Rams assistant coach
The New England Patriots are expected to interview Rams assistant special teams coach Jeremy Springer. This would mark the Patriots second external special teams candidate after requesting to interview Falcons Marquice Williams, no word since that reported request was made on if that was granted.
Springer joined the Rams for this past season under head coach Sean McVay. He was a special teams coordinator for the University of Arizona from 2018-21 before going to an assistant coach at Marshall University before making the leap to the NFL.
“Springer helped former Rams receiver Brandon Powell finish eighth in total kick return yards (605) and seventh in kickoffs returned past the 20-yard line (76.7%) among players with at least 20 kickoff returns.” written in part on the Rams official website under Springer’s bio.
Patriots coach Jerod Mayo is the youngest NFL head coach. With Springer working with McVay, the second youngest head coach, this match makes sense.
