Patriots defensive back released after loss in Germany
Jack Jones has been reportedly waived by the team
The New England Patriots are waiving cornerback Jack Jones, as first reported by Mike Garafolo of NFL Network. Jones was originally drafted in the fourth round in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Arizona State.
The defensive back started his career off looking like he was a future number one corner, but then off field trouble ensued. He then got hurt and ultimately was suspended for missing rehab time.
In the offseason he was arrested on alleged gun charges at Logan Airport. However, the Patriots stuck with him, after showing promise in his rookie year, and the Patriots were not in a position to simply release talent.
Jones woes continued injuring his hamstring, an injury that placed him on IR for six weeks this season. Upon his returned, troubles with the team grew as he reportedly missed curfew the night before playing the Washington Commanders.
Missing curfew lead to a benching in the first quarter and Jones leaving postgame without talking to the media. He then took to social media to like a post that suggested he should’ve plead guilty on the gun charges instead of playing on the Patriots.
This release is a sign of the Patriots making changes as they head into their bye week at 2-8. New England took a chance on Jones by drafting him and like much of the 2022 draft it didn’t work out.
