On this episode, Chris and Jamie are joined by Red Sox minor league pitcher Danny Kirwin.
Danny joined the Red Sox this season as a MiLB free agent and pitched in 20 games leading to the AFL and becoming a Fall Star. He talks about his journey to pro ball, goals, mental aspect of the game and more.
Kirwin worked as both a starter and out of the bullpen this past season. As he heads into 2025 his preference is to start as he develops in the system.
“I hadn't started since I started one summer a little bit but since high school, really,” said Kirwin. “So going into this year, I thought I would be a reliever off of that. And then they had me piggybacking early on and told me I was going to start later in the year. And getting adjusted to that was pretty smooth, to be honest, just because I was going to start in Oakland. So my pitch count was already up.
“But after all this, like I think starting is definitely the option I would want to be.”
