Milan Lucic will not play for the Bruins again this season following dropped charges (report)
Milan Lucic’s season is officially over.
Following the alleged domestic violence charges against were dropped, the team announced in a statement the forward will not be returning to the team.
“Milan Lucic will remain on indefinite leave from the organization for the remainder of the 2023-24 season. The Boston Bruins organization supports Milan and his family as he continues his personal rehabilitation,” the Bruins said in a statement.
Lucic was arrested in mid-November following allegations of alleged domestic violence. The 35-year-old forward reportedly attacked and choked his wife, according to Tiffany Chan of WBZ.
"The Boston Bruins are aware of the situation involving Milan Lucic Friday evening. Milan is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team. The organization takes these matters very seriously, and we will work with the Lucic family to provide any support and assistance they may need. We will have no further comment at this time," the team said back in November.
Lucic has been out of action since Oct 21. when he took a Derek Forbort snapshot off his ankle. Boston placed the The 6-foot-3, 236-pound winger was placed on long-term injury reserve on Oct. 27 and was eligible to come off LTIR.
The veteran will become a free agent at the end of the season. Lucic signed a one-year veteran’s deal for $1 million during the offseason with $500,000 more possible with incentives. He won’t reach those incentives. He played just four games with the Bruins this season, recording two assists (two points).
“Milan is very happy. He’s looking forward to get his life back on track and get his career back on track,” Lucic’s lawyer Gary G. Pelletier told the Boston Globe.
If the Bruins do not re-sign Lucic in the offseason, he will have to try and continue his career in a different market.
