Michigans' Jim Harbaugh will become the next head coach of the LA Chargers
The Los Angeles Chargers have chosen Jim Harbaugh as their next head coach according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Harbaugh joins the Chargers after coaching the University of Michigan to the National Championship title. Los Angeles interviewed 15 candidates before landing on Harbaugh.
Harbaugh comes back to the NFL since he left the San Francsisco 49ers in 2014. He lead them to three NFC confernce championships.
In the 2012-13 season, he took them to the Super Bowl where he lost 34-31 to his brother John Harbaugh and the Baltimore Ravens.
Overall, the new Chargers leader has a 49-22-1 record as an NFL head coach. He is 5-3 in the postseason. Harbaugh now goes to a team that will look for him to get the most out of quarterback Justin Herbert.
The Chargers have been considered an underperforming team with Herbert regarded as their franchise quarterback. He has yet to have win one playoff game despite having weapons that include wide receiver Keenan Allen and running back Austin Ekeler.
Harbaugh replaces Brandon Staley after Staley was fired towards the end of last season. The Chargers ended the season with a 5-12 record and the fifth overall pick in the upcoming NFL draft.
