Kristaps Porzingis posts update of his injury on his Instagram, will miss Sunday's game against the Hawks
Celtics big man Kristaps Porzingis left Friday afternoon’s game after experience calf tightness, the team announced.
The 7-foot-3 center provided an update on his Instagram story Saturday afternoon, calming Celtics’ fans fears his injury could be something serious.
“Good news this morning. Be back very soon,” Porzingis wrote in his Instagram story.
The severity of the injury and the results of his MRI have not been made available. Porzingis will miss Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Hawks, per Kevin Smith of Spotrac. Despite not playing in Sunday’s game, there’s reason for optimism following his Instagram post.
Porzingis had nine points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals in 22 minutes on the court in the loss to the Magic.
“I felt a bit of something in my calf and just kept playing,” Porzingis said to reporters after the game. “I felt like, OK, it’s some kind of strain or tightness, something happened there and you saw me limping a little bit. The medical staff pulled me out after that.”
Over the first 15 games of the season, Porzingis has been healthy for the Celtics. He’s dealt with numerous issues over the course of his career, including dealing with plantar fasciitis this summer that forced him to miss the FIBA World Cup.
