Kim Ng becomes the latest front office executive to turn down an opportunity to interview with Red Sox
The Red Sox can cross another name off their wishlist of hopeful candidates to replace Chaim Bloom. Former Marlins general manager Kim Ng has become the latest executive to decline an interview with Boston, per MassLive’s Chris Cotillo and Sean McAdam.
Miami parted ways with Ng earlier in the week and speculation began as to whether she would be a prime candidate to replace Bloom.
It’s not known as to why Ng declined an opportunity to interview with the Red Sox. The MassLive report speculates that industry sources are saying Ng could take the year off and pursue jobs next winter.
Ng left the Marlins because it was reported the organization wanted to hire a president of baseball operations she would report to and become the No. 2 in the department. Her departure from the Marlins came as a surprise following an 84-78 record and a wild-card playoff berth in the National League.
The 54-year-old was hired by the Fish in Nov. 2020 and won 67 games in her first season, followed by 69 wins in 2021. Prior to working for Miami, she was an assistant general manager for the Dodgers and Yankees while also working for the league.

Sox ownership needs to be honest & admit that they are simply looking for a placeholder until Alex Cora "wants" the job. If they were serious about change, they would not make the new POBO have to stick with Cora in 2024, he should have been fired with Bloom. But now it seems, they want him to have even more power. Breslow or whoever takes this job (whatever title the Sox give them), will only be a puppet with several puppeteers controlling the moves. Who would want this job. The Sox NEED someone like Daniels, Hazen or Ng....but instead we are stuck with Cora.
