The Bruins and David Pastrnak have been having dialog almost everyday. Bruins general manager Don Sweeney and Pastrnak’s agent have been trying to find common ground on a contract extension.
“(Pastrnak’s agent) J.P. (Barry) and I generally talk almost every day,” Sweeney said. “Just trying to find the common ground and hopefully we get to a point that we can announce, but we’re not there. The communication has been good, just haven’t found the end point yet,” said Sweeney after he announced the Jack Studnicka trade to the media.

There has been no set timeline for an agreement to be in place for the forward.
The Bruins were in the same situation prior to last season with defenseman Charlie McAvoy. The 24-year-old was also going to become a restricted free agent at the end of the season. Sweeney was able to get a good deal done for the team and the player.
Following the Bruins 5-1 win over the Red Wings at the TD Garden Thursday night, Pastrnak added some context to his discussions with the club.
“We’re not there. Communication has been good. Haven’t found end point yet,” said Pastrnak.
Pastrnak could earn between $9.5 and $10 million per season with his new extension.
Sweeney has shown in the past to lock up his key players and pay them fair market value. Pastrnak wants to be in Boston, an extension seems pretty simple at this point.
