Danton Heinen is proving to be a solid depth piece
As the Bruins reshaped their roster in the offseason, they brought in a familiar face in Danton Heinen. The former fourth-round pick began his career in Boston before stints in Anaheim and Pittsburgh. In his return, Heinen has been a useful piece for a Bruins team off to an impressive start.
Through 12 games, Heinen has scored two goals and dished out three assists. He also attempted 19 shots and spent most of his time on the Bruins' third and fourth lines. While the 28-year-old hasn't provided a major scoring punch, he has made an impact in other areas.
Heinen has been very effective in the faceoff circle with a 60 percent winning percentage. If the season ended today, that would be the highest total of his career. That has been a welcoming sign for Boston, as Heinen did get off to a slow start offensively.
Additionally, the British Columbia native has three points in his last five games. That includes his second goal of the season, which came against the Detroit Red Wings on November 23. As Heinen has factored more into the offense, he has looked comfortable with his new linemates. Heinen is averaging 12:57 of total ice time per game, his highest total since the 2020-2021 campaign.
While Heinen’s numbers don’t jump off the page, he is proving to be a solid depth piece for the team that originally drafted him. Since making his debut, Heinen has been on the ice for seven Bruins goals this season.
Although the season is far from over, Heinen is providing value when he’s on the ice.
