Connor Bedard reacts to Taylor Hall’s season ending surgery and impact to the Blackhawks locker room: ‘It’s heartbreaking’
The Blackhawks announced that forward Taylor Hall would miss the remainder of the season with knee surgery. The former Bruins forward was acquired by Chicago this summer to play alongside rookie phenom Connor Bedard.
Hall will now have to watch the rookie’s season from the sidelines.
Bedard spoke with reporters and talked about how Hall’s injury is impacting the locker room.
“It’s heartbreaking. Someone that loves to play so much,” Bedard told reporters Friday. “Every game, so impactful. Such a good hockey player but also such a good person and means so much to our group. It’s heartbreaking, like I said. Obviously, we’re rooting for him and wishing him the best. We know he’s still going to be around, and of course, a big part of the team. It’s sad, but we know he’s going to do what he can to get back.”
Hall initially sustained an injury in his right leg in the team’s 5-3 win over the Lightning on Nov. 9. He had to be helped off the ice after he fell backward on the leg, which bent underneath him. It’s likely the injury came during an ugly collision with Lightning forward Mikey Eyssimont.
Hall has another year left on his contract with the Blackhawks. The injury to the Canadian forward prohibits him from playing a full season along side young superstar Connor Bedard.
The 14-year left shot forward owns 266 career goals, 431 assists and 697 points. His best season came in the 2016-2017 campaign where he won the Hart Trophy, scored 39 goals and finished with 93 points.
