Ceddanne Rafaela first career home run ball still missing
Ceddanne Rafaela crushed his first career Major League home run in the first inning of the doubleheader night cap against the Yankees.
The ball traveled an estimated 400 feet, hitting the light tower atop the Green Monster and ricocheting onto Lansdowne Street.
The Sox have not been able to locate the ball for Rafaela.
The young prospect led off the bottom of the first inning and connected on the first pitch he saw, a 94.2 mph four-seam fastball off Yankees’ lefty Carlos Rodón.
“First pitch of the game, trying to see if I can get the fastball in and I feel like I handled that one,” Rafaela said.
The 22-year-old went 2-for-5 out of the leadoff spot. He also added a doubled to begin the bottom of the seventh inning, he was left stranded on third to end the frame.
Since joining the Red Sox in August, Rafaela has gone 10-for-29 (.345), one homer, three doubles, six runs, two RBI, two walks and 12 strikeouts in 13 games.
