Bruins shutout Canucks, 4-0, in intense matchup of league's top two teams
The National Hockey League’s top two teams squared off at TD Garden on Thursday night. The heated matchup was nothing short of entertaining.
The B’s quickly opened up the scoring in the first with a short-handed goal from Brad Marchand at 0:32. Danton Heinen followed up with a second at 15:37. Boston was able to hold the Canucks to just four shots on goal during the first period.
The Bruins went into the second up 2-0. Both Morgan Geekie and Pavel Zacha scored within the first minute, giving the B’s a healthy 4-0 lead going into the third.
The third was scoreless for both teams.
Goalie Linus Ullmark secured his first shutout of the season. He faced 17 shots and improved to 15-6-2 in the goal.
With the win, the B’s improved to 32-10-9 and are once again tied with the Canucks for the most points in the NHL (73).
Boston will continue their homestand against the Washington Capitals on Saturday, Feb. 10. Puck drop is set for 3:30 p.m.
