Bruins prospect Georgii Merkulov scores second career AHL goal
The Providence Bruins won their home opener on Friday night, defeating the Bridgeport Islanders 3-1. Bruins forward Georgii Merkulov scored the games first goal and it was good for his second career AHL goal.
His goal came 1:27 before the Fabian Lysell goal, which was his first career AHL goal.

Last season, Merkulov played eight games in Providence, scoring one goal and assisting on four others.
The former Ohio State forward signed a three-year entry-level contract back in April. Merkulov’s deal has a cap hit of $925,000.
In his final season with the Buckeyes, the native of Russia tailed 34 points in 36 games. Merkulov scored a team high 20 goals and added 14 assists.
It’s expected that Merkulov will spend the entire 2022-23 season in Providence. If the Bruins are nipped with the injury bug at some point through the season, Merkulov could be an option.
