When the Red Sox promoted their top pitching prospect to Triple-A, it wasn’t a matter of [if] he would make to the big leagues in 2022, it was a matter of [when].
Prior to his call-up to Triple-A, Bello appeared in six games holding a 4-2 record and a 1.60 ERA with 42 strikeouts for Portland. He also threw a seven-inning no-hitter for the Double-A club, and was featured in our weekly ran “SoxSpects Portal” player profile.
In his first outing with Triple-A on May 18 against Scranton Wilkes-Barre, the fierce righty went six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out 10 along the way.
It was no different on Tuesday night for Bello as he worked six innings, allowing two runs on three hits allowed. He also would strike out 10.
Bello is the only pitcher in the International League this year with multiple 10 strikeout games.
He has worked 12 innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, with 20 strikeouts with Worcester. He owns a 2-0 record with an 3.00 ERA.
Again, the question isn’t if, it’s when he will be promoted and that time should come very soon if he keeps producing on the bump like he has thus far into the season.
