Bruins release an official statement following Milan Lucic's arrest
Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic was arrested Friday night on alleged domestic violence charges.
The team released an official statement regarding Lucic’s alleged incident.
"The Boston Bruins are aware of an incident involving Milan Lucic Friday evening. Milan is taking an indefinite leave of absence from the team. The organization takes these matters very seriously, and will work with the Lucic family to provide any support and assistance they may need. We will have no further comment at this time."
Lucic has been out of action since Oct 21. when he took a Derek Forgot snapshot off his ankle. Boston placed the The 6-foot-3, 236-pound winger was placed on long-term injury reserve on Oct. 27 and is eligible to come off LTIR.
The veteran suffered a setback rehabbing from the injury and was not expected back into the Bruins lineup anytime soon.
“Looch is not going as quick as we expected, so he’s maybe a week behind where we expected, but it’s not dramatic,” Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery said after practice on Monday.
A 2011 Stanley Cup winner with the Bruins, Lucic returned during the offseason, signing a $1 million deal with $500,000 more possible in performance-based incentives.
He made his debut for the Bruins in 2007 and spent eight seasons in Boston before making his return in the off-season.
