Bill Burr from Fenway Park: 'It’s f—king insane that I’m here'
If you were like me and had the opportunity to go see Bill Burr live from Fenway Park on Sunday night, you probably laughed your ass off. If you didn't then you have zero sense of humor and I really don’t know what to tell ya.
Burr performed his comedy act at America’s Most Beloved Ballpark on Sunday night and he did not disappoint. The “Slight Return” tour is Burr’s only stop in New England.
With the Green Monster to his left and the centerfield wall behind him, the Canton, Mass. native absolutely entertained the capacity crowd. “It’s f—king insane that I’m here,” said Burr.
The 54-year-old comedian did not disappoint and nothing was off-limits. He went after feminists, men with no money, short guy with big watches, Madonna, his wife, Donald Trump, Joe Biden and more.
If you are easily offended, Burr isn’t the comedian for you. He makes it abundantly clear that it’s just material he’s performing on stage. The 35,000 in attendance at Fenway Park loved every second of it.
Regular listener’s to the his Monday morning podcast would have recognized some of his material at the end of the set. He talked about going to a store looking to buy a Patriots hat and the argument he gets into with the clerk over what they heard for his hat size.
Burr also talked about the second time he took mushrooms, piggybacking on his Red Rocks Netflix special. The mushrooms and the cowboy to close the show had me in tears.
After Sunday night and having over 35,000 people fill Fenway Park for a comedy show, Burr has approached superstar status. Even his opening act Tony V was hilarious and set the tone for the memorable night in Boston.
I will definitely see Burr again the next time he comes to the Boston area. He had new material that hasn't been seen on Netflix while mixing in some older stuff you can hear on his podcast. The two hours and change without my cell phone, completely locked in on the show was worth it.
