If you don’t know who Zack Hample is, well he chases foul balls and home runs. The 44-year-old claims that he has collected more than 11,000 baseballs from Major League Baseball stadiums.
He’s snagged Alex Rodriguez’s 3000th career hit and Angels Mike Trout’s first career homer. Hample does his homework before any game he attends by studying spray charts. This allows him to essentially be in the right place at the right time.
Love him or hate him, Hample has a system and it works for him. However, it didn’t work for him at Coors Field.
While attending a Cardinals and Rockies game, Hample wanted to try and retrieve a home run ball. A stadium usher didn’t allow Hample to do so because he was trying to access a prohibited area.
Hample posted two vlogs on YouTube about his experience at Coors Field. The ball chaser really played up the victim card in his videos complaining that the security team failed to maximize his fan experience.
“All right, it’s a home run ball, I’m gonna go for a home run ball,” Hample told the guard.
“No, you’re not! I don’t care,” the guard replied.
“Come on, don’t be that strict, Hample said. “That’s ridiculous. Telling me I can’t move 10 feet for a home run is ridiculous. Stop enforcing BS rules that you make up on the spot. It’s a home run ball, people can try to catch a home run.”
Hample sounds more like a whine bag because the rules were enforced and he didn't like it. He definitely comes across cringeworthy in his video but you have to respect his hustle.
