Xander Bogaerts confirms Red Sox will not trade him
Earlier this week Red Sox CEO Sam Kennedy and chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom spoke openly about not trading shortstop Xander Bogaerts.
Bloom went on NESN and talked about the focus for the trade deadline, “we’re trying to make the postseason” and on trading the left side of his infield, “we don’t plan to.”
On Thursday night following the Red Sox 4-2 win over the Guardians, Bogaerts spoke openly about his future with the club.

“Yeah. I don’t know if I should say that, but I hope I don’t get in trouble. But yeah, much better like that. Communication is always huge in everything in life. To get that type of feedback is beneficial, I would say,” said Bogaerts.
Despite Bogaerts getting the reassurance, time will only tell whether the Red Sox are going to stand by their word.
“Everyone wants to stay together, no one wants to separate, but those decisions aren’t up to us. But the only way we can help that a little bit is to continue to win games and now every game matters. I had a huge, huge swing, and I couldn’t have asked for a better time than that.
“So, hopefully we keep winning games, make it harder on (the front office) and keep everyone together. We’re getting help by the way, guys are coming off the (injured list) we’ll be good,” added Bogaerts.
