After a six year hiatus, the World Baseball Classic will return in 2023. The WBC announced the dates, venues and pools for the tournament next year. There will be two qualifying events that’ll take place later this year.
This will be the fifth World Baseball Classic and the new tournament will feature 20 teams.

The following 16 teams have already been placed into the new tournament.
2023 WBC: Australia, Canada, China, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Korea, Mexico, Puerto Rico, United States, and Venezuela.

The remaining four spots will be decided by the two qualifying events later this year.
Qualifier No. 1: Czech Republic, Great Britain, New Zealand, Panama, Philippines, Spain
Qualifier No. 2: Brazil, Germany, France, Nicaragua, Pakistan, South Africa
The United States won the last WBC back in 2017 and will compete in Pool C next year.
