Triple-A Worcester bats stays hot
Jeter Downs and Jaylin Davis power the WooSox lineup to the victory
Behind the bats of Jeter Down and Jaylin Davis, the WooSox recorded their fifth straight win with a 6-5 win over Syracuse.
Davis hit his second home run in the second inning which was an absolute moonshot to left field.
Downs would follow up with his eighth home run of the year in the fifth inning which was also to left field.
Worcester received extra help from Rob Refsnyder and Jarren Duran as both doubled in the evening, plating each with their 12th RBI on the year.
Thomas Pannone went five innings allowing a run on three hits and striking out seven. 41 of his 59 pitches were strikes. He was tagged with the win, his fourth of the year.
Syracuse did make an effort to comeback and steal the win as they plated three runs in seventh. All three runs were charged to relief man Geoff Hartlieb who only worked one third of an inning.
Eduard Bazardo recorded his fourth hold of the season for Worcester. He also struck out three in his one and two thirds inning.
For those who don’t know what a hold means, it means when a relief pitcher enters the game in a save situation and maintains his team's lead for the next relief pitcher, while recording at least one out.
Recording his first save of the year was Frank German who also struck out three in the one inning of work.
