WooSox lineup: Hunter Dobbins makes second start, Dalbec with 6 hits in series, Teel batting third and the designated hitter
The WooSox are winners of their last four games after defeating the Rochester RedWings on Thursday night 13-10. Bobby Dalbec and Trevor Story provided four hits and two RBI apiece in the win. Dalbec hit a double and blasted his 18th homer of the year.
Hunter Dobbins will make his second Triple-A start after hurling five innings on Aug. 30. The righty took the loss and gave up two earned runs off six hits with four walks and seven strikeouts.
Dobbins, a huge fan of the Dr. Pepper, has pitched well this season between Portland and Worcester. He has posted a 1.71 ERA over his last five starts with 26 strikeouts in 16 1/3 frames.
The Texas native drinks at least two Dr. Peppers before each game he pitches, and it’s become a regular ritual for him.
“It kind of settles the nerves a little bit and kind of gets me going,” Dobbins said to reporters on Thursday.
Since the calendar flipped to Sept., Dalbec is hitting .444 (8-for-18) with two homers, three doubles, three RBI, and a stolen base. He has six hits over his last two games and eight hits over his last four.
Kristian Campbell remains hot with the WooSox. He belted his fourth homer of the season in the win on Thursday night. The 22-year-old is hitting .300 and has a 1.024 OPS in 13 games for Worcester.
MiLB roster moves
Story is traveling back to Boston and is expected to be activated by the Red Sox on Saturday. The shortstop played in four rehab games with the WooSox; he hit .375 with a double, two RBI, one stolen base, and a .813 OPS. He has been out with a dislocated left shoulder that he ultimately had surgery on in early April.
The WooSox added left-handed pitcher Brendan Cellucci from the Portland Sea Dogs. This will be his second stint with the WooSox this season. He appeared in just two games early on in the year; he posted a 2.25 ERA with three strikeouts and four walks. Overall, the southpaw is 7-3 with a 3.02 ERA and four saves and 87 strikeouts in 62 2/3 innings (32 games).
Luis Guerrero earned a promotion to the Red Sox after dominating Triple-A hitters. The flamethrowing right-hander posted 13.09 strikeouts per nine innings (79 strikeouts). Guerrero has posted a 3.31 ERA and has a 0.68 ERA with 23 strikeouts since Aug. 4 for Worcester.
