What player did former Red Sox third baseman Bill Mueller love to watch hit?
Mueller went on The Bradfo Sho Podcast and discussed a handful of topics
Former Red Sox third baseman Bill Mueller had one of the most underrated hits in postseason history. Back during the Red Sox 2004 World Series run, Mueller delivered a huge base hit driving in Dave Roberts in Game 4 of the ALCS.
Prior to that epic hit off Mariano Rivera, Dave Roberts would steal second base, not before Kevin Millar worked a walk. Roberts stolen base was arguably the greatest stolen base in the history of baseball.

Mueller’s hit would tie the game 4-4 against the Yankees in the bottom of the ninth. Roberts would score and it would set the tone for the greatest comeback in playoff history.
On Monday, Mueller was on The Bradfo Sho with Rob Bradford and they went down memory lane talking about the 2003 chase for the American League Batting title, the 2004 playoff run, Manny Ramirez and who his favorite player was to watch hit.
“Yeah, Tony Gwynn. [Tony Gwynn] was probably the most impressive to me on hitting and the consistency. Just the presence, the calmness, the confidence, the execution, the plan it seemed like he was always in full control of an at-bat.
“Just from games played against him, I never really had the chance to speak to him, or be around him or hit on the same team with him. From a far, he was my favorite guy to watch,” said Mueller.
Gwynn played 20 years in baseball and all with the San Diego Padres. The late Gwynn had 3,141 hits, 135 homers, 1383 runs, 1138 RBIs and a career .338 hitter.
Over the course of his Hall of Fame career, Gwynn hit over .300, 19 of the 20 years he played. A feat that will likely not be matched again in baseball.
