What did Christian Vazquez say on potentially returning to Boston?
When the Red Sox traded catcher Christian Vazquez at the trade deadline, it was met with backlash from the fanbase. There’s a portion of the fanbase now that are happy with Reese McGuire and Connor Wong behind the dish.
Others want the veteran backstop back in 2023 with McGuire. Will the portion of the fanbase that wants Vazquez back next season get their wish?

During batting practice from Minute Maid Park in Houston, Boston Globe’s Pete Abraham spoke with Vazquez. The two discussed the potential of coming back to the Red Sox.
“I don’t know, man. I hope so. I’d love it. It was my house for a long time. We’ll see how it goes,” Vazquez said.
While the Puerto Rican native would welcome another stint in Boston, he has prioritized wanting to be an everyday player. He also told Abraham that he wants to play for a contender in 2023.
Chief baseball officer Chaim Bloom has publicly stated the club will be looking for upgrades at catcher.
“This is one of the areas that I fully expect we're going to explore additions. It's nice to know we have at least two guys that are familiar with how we do things, that showed a lot of good things but we owe it to ourselves and everybody who cares about this team to look to get better, and catcher is certainly not going to be an exception to that,” said Bloom.
