This Beyond the Monster series is where we highlight the top waiver adds for Fantasy Football each week. We will review our top waiver add for each position. The purpose is to bring insight and entertainment to our readers.
Quarterback:
Gardner Minshew- As the season goes on, quality streaming quarterback options tend to get thinner. Add the fact that there are many struggling teams in the NFL right now, this makes it even more difficult. With that, Minshew is solid fantasy streamer for this week. He was 11 for 14 in week 5 when he took over for Anthony Richardson who is now out with a shoulder injury. He also faces the Jacksonville Jaguars, so there is potential for the “revenge” game.
Running back:
Jeff Wilson- Wilson has started his 21 day clock to come off the IR just in time. De’von Achane will miss multiple weeks with an injury and Wilson could step in to backup Mostert.
On a week to week basis, Wilson could be tough to rely on especially if Mostert keeps being productive. Mostert is ranked as the number two running back in fantasy points per game in PPR leagues. However, given the high pace offense of the Dolphins, like Achane did, Wilson could carve out standalone value.
Wide Receiver:
KJ Osborn- Unfortunately this add comes at the expense of superstar wideout Justin Jefferson. Jefferson is expected to put on the IR due to a hamstring injury. Osborn is currently the number two receiver in a pass friendly offense on a 1-4 Minnesota Vikings team that could be trailing in most games. Osborn seized the opportunity in an expanded role in week 5 hauling in five catches for 49 yards on a season high nine targets.
Tight End:
Logan Thomas- Thomas is a known name but not owned in many leagues. The Washington Commander had a big week 5 with nine catches on 11 targets for 77 yards and one touchdown. A 20 point fantasy week will not be the norm, but Thomas provides a safe floor as he has gotten seven plus fantasy points in PPR leagues each week this season. He did miss week 3 against the Buffalo Bills with a concussion.
Defense/Special Teams:
Las Vegas Raiders- It is rare to suggest a defense that as a team is 1-4 and is coming off a short week, but the matchup is too enticing. The Raiders welcome in the New England Patriots who are a mess (as many of you know). To make matters worse the Patriots could be down two WRs in JuJu Smith-Schuster and Demario Douglas. The Raiders have had multiple sacks in every game but one this season. The Patriots just gave up 22 fantasy points to the New Orleans Saints in their week 5 loss.
