Toronto Blue Jays slugger Vladimir Guerrero Jr. never wants to play for the New York Yankees. The 23-year-old sat down and did an interview with El Dotol Nastra (Vincent Carmona Ariasand) talked about the Evil Empire.
“I like to play in New York. I like to kill the Yankees. I would never sign with the Yankees, not even [when I’m] dead,” Guerrero said.
Vladdy Jr. has a career .289 batting average with 13 homers and 41 RBI against the Yankees. He’s crushed 10 home runs in 31 overall games at Yankee Stadium.
Red Sox fans always enjoy hearing when some of the games best players rag on the Yankees. Boston fans will certainly appreciate Guerrero Jr.’s dislike for playing in pinstripes.
Guerrero Jr. is coming off a season where he won a AL Gold Glove at first base. The Gold Glove was the first of his young career.
The slugger played in 160 games and had 175 hits, 35 doubles, 32 homers, 97 RBIs, 90 runs and hit .274 with an .818 OPS.
The Blue Jays don’t have to worry about whether or not Guerrero Jr. will sign somewhere else for a long time. The former All Star MVP is not a free agent until after 2025.

If Guerrero Jr. does hit free agency in a few years, it will be interesting to see if he sticks to his word. The New York Yankees have deep pockets and have shown they will throw money at players they like. The Bronx Bombers gave former Astros ace Gerrit Cole a nine-year, $324 million deal back in the winter of 2019.
The Blue Jays first baseman is happy in Toronto and hopes to play in Canada for a long time. “I feel really happy playing here,” Guerrero Jr. said. “I hope something can be done about it this offseason.”
