It’s an age old story… you have a top three pick in Fantasy Football. You debate whether to take Christian McCaffrey if he’s on the board. You make the decision and draft McCaffrey and pray to god every single day that you don’t see a tweet his hurt.
Welp. Here we are.
The Carolina Panthers season opener is only three days away. On Thursday, the Panthers listed the star running back on the injured report. He was listed with a shin injury and in the process CMC owners began to panic about their top fantasy draft pick.
Despite his shin issue, breathe easy McCaffrey owners, he’s fine.
Unfortunately, the panic that sent sound waves through social media were warranted. Here’s the deal, if you own CMC this season, you’re going to be on the edge of your seat wondering if he can play all 17 games.
However, McCaffrey represents unbelievable upside if he does play all 17 games for the Panthers.
McCaffrey has played in 10 games the last two years. He’s rushed for 667 yards and six touchdowns during that time frame.
Can he revert back to 2019 when he rushed for 1,387 yards, 15 touchdowns, caught 116 balls for 1,005 yards and four touchdowns? This is where owners will begin to experience trust issues again. If CMC looks like the 2019 version, he’s instantly an RB1 in your lineup.
If you grab CMC in anyone of your leagues, you’ll need to scoop Chuba Hubbard as insurance and stash him on your bench.
Baker Mayfield is the best quarterback that the star running back will play with and he will definitely feed the rock to his RB1. D.J. Moore is coming off a huge year with 93 receptions, 1,157 yards and four touchdowns will see his fair share of targets.
It’s all about trusting McCaffrey which can be hard because of his past and in the process he represents tremendous upside. Fantasy owners have trust issues with McCaffrey and that’s fair. It’s ok to be vulnerable again, let CMC led you to another Fantasy Football championship.
