Trevor Story to begin rehab assignment with the Portland Sea Dogs Wednesday
Trevor Story will begin a rehab assignment with the Portland Sea Dogs on Wednesday. The second baseman has been on the injured list since mid-July with a hand/wrist injury.
Story will appear in a hame for the first time since July 12, when he suffered a hand contusion and stress fracture in his wrist after he was hit by a pitch.
Story will play second base for the Sea Dogs on Wednesday and could return to the Red Sox lineup by the end of the homestand this weekend.
“I don’t know how many at-bats or how many games he will need,” Cora said. “We’ll be patient and he’ll let us know whenever he’s ready.”
This season, Story has played 81 games hitting .221 with 68 hits, 17 doubles, 15 home runs, 58 RBIs, 10 stolen bases and owns a .289 on-base percentage.
