Trevor Story on his epic 3-home run, seven RBI game: ‘Just a special night and one I’ll never forget’
Story now has five home runs and 23 RBIs on the season
Red Sox fans have been waiting for Trevor Story to go off at the plate and he finally did that on Thursday night. The second baseman hit three homers, had four hits and drove in seven RBIs in the Red Sox 12-6 over the Mariners.
Story entered the game hitting a measly .205 with 16 RBIs. In one game he rose his batting average to .230 and he has now hit .412 in his last five games.
Story is beginning to find his groove at the plate and is heating up at a very good time.
"The at-bats are getting better," manager Alex Cora said. "He keeps working hard at it and he's a good athlete. He will hit. We know that. He's feeling comfortable in the environment and it's just a matter of time. Today was outstanding.”
Story had a pair of two-run homers and a three-run blast in the eight inning. He also had a single that drove in the go-ahead blast in the sixth inning.
Overall Story was 4-for-4 in the game.
This isn’t the first time that Story has belted three home runs in one game. The former Colorado Rockies star shortstop hit three in a game against the Giants back in 2018. "Just a special night and one I'll never forget,'' said Story following the epic game from Fenway Park.
"Just very simple stuff, just trying to be more balanced and be on time,'' Story said. "I think that's about as simple as I can put it. I'm not trying to do too much and I think that works really well for me.”
