Tom Brady: ‘Good morning guys, I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring… for good’
Tom Brady has officially announced his retirement from the National Football League. In a social media post on Wednesday morning, Brady told the world he would walk away from the sport he has loved and played his entire life.
“Good morning, guys. I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring. For good,” Brady said. “I know the process was a pretty big deal last time so when I woke up this morning I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first. It won’t be long winded. You only get one super emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year. I really thank you guys so much – to every single one of you for supporting me. My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors – I could go on forever. There’s too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn’t change a thing. Love you all.”
The former Patriots legend will walk away from football after 23 years. Brady is a winner of seven Super Bowls, five Super Bowl MVP awards and three league MVP honors in 23 seasons with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Brady’s announcement comes one year to the day when he announced he would retire back on Feb. 1, 2022. He then changed his mind less than six weeks later and came back to the Buccaneers. In his third and final season with Tampa Bay, Brady threw for 4,694 passing yards, the third most in the league, while completing 66.8 percent of his passes.
The California native is now expected to step into his role as a TV broadcaster with Fox Sports. Brady reportedly signed a 10-year, $375 million deal to call games. Fox Sports is making a big bet on the future Hall of Famer with that financial commitment.
In addition to his deal with Fox Sports, Brady also owns TB12 Sports, Religion of Sports, a media company and Brady Brand clothing line.
