Derrik Maguire, Hunter Noll and Jake T. O'Donnell chat about the WooSox series vs. Buffalo and season openings for Portland, Greenville and Salem.
On Episode 237 of The Pesky Report (Presented by Beyond the Monster), the Minor Talks guys are back to discuss all the latest happenings in the Boston Red Sox minor league system.
Derrik Maguire, Hunter Noll and Jake T. O'Donnell kicked off the episode by talking about the WooSox series with Buffalo and performances by Bryan Mata, Brandon Walter, David Hamilton and others. Hunter posits a theory on Enmanuel Valdez’s tough start, and the guys also go over the possible ripple effects of the Adam Duvall injury on minor league rosters.
Then they discuss the starts of the season for the teams in Portland, Greenville and Salem. The guys go over Shane Drohan’s promising first start for the Sea Dogs, some impressive performances out of the bullpen and more.
For Greenville, there’s only two games to go over but the guys chat about Marcelo Mayer, a great start for Chase Meidroth and Nick Decker’s important year. They also go deep on reliever Aaron Perry and his bumpy road in pro ball.
As for Salem, the guys gush about Miguel Bleis’s awesomeness but also point out some of the pitching struggles including for top prospect Luis Perales.
Lastly, the guys go around the horn and each pick one hitter and one pitcher at each level to watch for this week.
