A week that started off so beautifully and stress free ended with a sour taste in the mouthes of Red Sox nation.
The first two games of a four game series in Minnesota started off as great as you could imagine for the Sox, beating the Twins 9-3 and 10-4.
These wins were spearheaded by strong starts from Paxton and Crawford, as well as solid performances from Verdugo, Yoshida, Casas, and Arroyo (who went 5-5 in Tuesdays game despite not being in the lineup two hours before first pitch).
A bad Whitlock start hurt the Sox in game three of the series. The game went to the 10th tied 4-4, thanks to a huge Casas RBI double in the eighth, off of flamethrower Jhoan Duran. Kaleb Ort preceded to lose the game in the 10th.
The last game of the series was even uglier as the Sox essentially sleep walked through a 1:10 start time and were owned by Joe Ryan for nine innings in a 6-0 loss.
A weekend series in Chicago started off well in another great start from Brayan Bello (6.2 IP 1 ER) in a 3-1 win where David Hamilton showed off some incredible speed and Devers hit a two-run home run.
Paxton had another good start in game two but only went four innings due to knee soreness. He left with a leads before Winckowski came in and gave up three ER.
Casas hit a two-run home run in the game, while Turner had a huge two out hit in the ninth to bring in Jarren Duran to tie the game at four. Two quick outs in the ninth before a Casas error and Elvin Andrus bloop hit led to the White Sox winning 5-4.
Another bad series closeout game on Sunday where the bats were no where to be seen and a bad Crawford start led to the team losing the game, 4-1 and the series, 2-1.
This week started off as good as it could get with the Sox firing on all cylinders, but momentum quickly perished when the offense went ice cold, more spotty defense, and average starts.
Bello and Casas however showed you more improvement and what to be excited for in the future.
The team will start a three game series tomorrow night at Fenway Park against the Miami Marlins.
