SoxSpects Podcast - Interview with Pirates pitching prospect Trey McGough
The Trey McGough interview is part of our series where we venture outside the Red Sox system
The Pittsburgh Pirates selected Pennsylvania native Trey McGough in in the 24th round of the MLB draft back in 2019. Since being drafted, he has excelled through the Bucs system and is one step away from The Show.
The left-handed hurler went 1:1 on our SoxSpects Podcast with co-host Jamie Gatlin.
McGough talks about his journey through the Pirates system and the possibility of one day pitching for the team he grew up idolizing.
“It was the step in the right direction for a dream come true,” said McGough. “That was the team I followed growing up and being part of it now and seeing the behind the scenes of the organization is really cool. The potential to be in the majors for my hometown team is exciting.”
McGough opens up about the adversity he went through dealing with Tommy John surgery, his offseason focus, the possibility of joining the Pirates and his love for hockey.
