Red Sox Notebook: Gilberto Batista signs a minor league deal, Nick Yorke/Stephen Scott AFL All-Star Game
The Red Sox signed international free agent pitcher Gilberto Batista earlier this week. The news first appeared on the Red Sox transactions log.
The right-handed pitcher’s deal was announced through Jimenez Academy Instagram from the Red Sox Dominican Baseball Academy on November 4th.
Batista is listed at 6-foot tall and 165 pounds. There isn’t much known about the young hurler.
In the Instagram post, Jimenez Academy said, “Many congratulations to Gilberto Batista for fulfilling his dream. May God fill him with blessings to this prospect. Today begins the great road to the major for this prospect blessings.”

Nick Yorke and Stephen Scott participate in the Arizona Fall League All-Star Game
Red Sox prospect Nick Yorke and minor leaguer Stephen Scott participated in the Arizona Fall League All-Star Game this past weekend.
Yorke who is ranked as the Red Sox No.4 prospect on MLB Pipeline struck out as a pinch-hitter in the sixth inning of the game. He would remain in the game and play second base. In his second at-bat, he would ground out to second, finishing the game 0-for-2.
Scott who participated in the Home Run Derby the day before, mashing 10 homers, started the game behind the dish. The 25-year-old reached base twice for the AL group. He singled in the fifth inning and walked in the sixth inning.
