On Saturday night newly signed right-hander Sterling Sharp made his organizational debut for the Red Sox in Double-A with the Portland Sea Dogs.
The 27-year-old righty went went five innings allowing two runs on five hits with one walk and four strikeouts in his debut.
It wasn’t lights out numbers, but it was enough to give the front office a glimpse at what he can do.
On the year Sharp now has 63 strikeouts over 71 innings of work and he lowered his ERA to 3.60 for the year.
Prior to signing a minor-league deal with the Sox, Sharp was released by the Washington Nationals on August 5. Prior to his release he posted a 2-5 record with a 6.62 ERA over 18 games (13 starts) and he worked 66 and two things innings while striking out 59 this season.
