Report: The Red Sox are interested in signing Japanese infielder/outfielder Seiya Suzuki
Will Boston land Suzuki once the lockout is lifted?
Despite the Major League Baseball lockout, the Red Sox are still connected to Japanese infielder/outfielder Seiya Suzuki. According to Sean McAdam of Boston Sports Journal, Boston is intent on landing Suzuki, according to "a few people in the game.”
Prior to the CBA deadline, the Red Sox made a surprise move and traded Hunter Renfroe to the Brewers. The trade of the power hitting right fielder clears the way for Boston to make a serious run at Suzuki.
Teams will be able to engage in negotiations with Suzuki once the lockout is lifted. Suzuki is coming off a strong nine-year career with the Hiroshima Carp of Nippon Professional Baseball.

Last season, Suzuki hit .317 with with 38 home runs, 26 doubles, and 88 RBIs. Suzuki would be a huge addition for the Red Sox and it seems like Chief Baseball Officer Chaim Bloom is intent on landing the 27-year-old.
Boston could look to outbid other teams and lure Suzuki to Fenway Park. Per McAdam’s report, “One major league evaluator who has scouted Suzuki extensively for his club remarked to colleagues recently that Suzuki is, indeed, ‘a difference-maker.‘''
